stews are so easy to cook & super yummy, go well with rice, wraps, buns, breads, mashed potatoes, etc, and you can throw in almost any ingredients you like, stew up a huge pot & freeze many portions for lazy stay-in days πŸ˜€ two recent stews i’ve made:

Veal Stew

  • cubes of veal (marinate in honey, paprika, basil, unsalted butter, preferably overnight)
  • 1 large yellow capsicum, cut in chunks
  • 1 large red capsicum, cut in chunks
  • shitake mushrooms, cut in halves or smaller if you like
  • celery in slices or chunks
  • yellow zucchini, cut in chunks
  • chopped onions
  • 1/2 pumpkin in cubes or chunks
  • star aniseed (1 or 2 will do, its very strong!)
  • tomatoes and/or tomato puree and/or pasta sauce


  1. heat up oil
  2. brown veal, set aside
  3. heat oil again
  4. brown onions
  5. throw in star aniseed
  6. add in all your veg
  7. add water to partially submerge all the ingredients
  8. add in tomatoes and/or tomato puree and/or pasta sauce
  9. bring to boil, add in veal & mushrooms
  10. reduce fire, let simmer & stew away for at least 2hrs
Veal Stew

Fishy-Peary Stew

  • 2 pieces of cod, cut in chunks,
  • 1 large salmon, cut in chunks
  • 1 large yellow capsicum, cut in chunks
  • 2 pears, peeled, cored, cut in chunks
  • 1 large eggplant, in cubes
  • couple of peeled, chunked potatoes
  • 1 green zucchini, cut in chunks
  • shitake mushrooms
  • chopped onions
  • 3, 4 cloves
  • 2, 3 dried figs
  • mint leaves
  • unsalted butter
  • paprika
Fishy-Peary Stew


  1. heat oil
  2. brown onions
  3. add in cloves
  4. fry potatoes
  5. add in water to partially submerge potatoes
  6. let it cook on medium heat for about 15mins
  7. throw in all your veg, cook for about 15mins
  8. throw in pear, mushrooms & dried figs
  9. reduce heat, stew away for about an hr & 1/2 to 2hrs
  10. before turning off the heat, add in your cod & salmon (marinated in unsalted butter, paprika, mint leaves) & cook for about 5mins or till its just cooked
